Manchester United takeover: Sir Jim Ratcliffe considers acquiring 25% stake

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is exploring the possibility of making a bid for a 25% stake in Manchester United, to shield off competition.

The British billionaire who has been a long-time Manchester United fan, has been considering various options to persuade the Glazer family to sell him their shares and allow him to eventually take the helm at the club.

Ratcliffe and Qatari Sheikh Jassim Bin Al Thani have both been vying to acquire Manchester United since late last year.

However, the Glazer family has been hesitant to accept offers from either party, as they have set a staggering £6 billion price tag on the club and are now deliberating whether to sell or not.

The latest development suggests that Ratcliffe is open to purchasing a minority stake in Manchester United initially, with the ultimate intention of securing full control in the future.

The move has been seen as an avenue for the Glazers to maintain their influence over the club and could possibly hasten the prolonged acquisition process, which has now spanned over ten months.

Meanwhile, the Glazers are yet to make comments on the new development prompting even more frustration among Manchester United’s supporters.
