Manchester United begin personal talks with Wilfred Ndidi

Manchester United have reportedly initiated personal negotiations with Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

The Leicester City star is expected to leave the Foxes following their relegation from the top flight, with United emerging as front-runners for his signature, according to soccernet.

The 28-year-old, a long-time stalwart at the King Power Stadium, has won the FA Cup, Community Shield, and EFL Championship during his tenure at the club.

According to reports from Caught Offside, Ndidi is available for just £9 million, courtesy of a relegation clause in his contract.

This makies him an attractive option for United, who are seeking experienced depth in midfield to complement manager Ruben Amorim’s tactical overhaul.

Despite the previous acquisition of Manuel Ugarte, the Uruguayan has struggled to adapt to the demands of English football, prompting the club to explore alternative options.

Ndidi, known for his defensive ability and versatility, has been identified as a low-risk, high-reward target.

The Nigerian midfielder, who turns 29 in January, has also drawn interest from clubs in Germany, Italy, and Spain.

However, a move to Old Trafford represents a rare opportunity to compete at the highest level again, a chance he is reportedly keen to seize.

If the deal is finalized, Ndidi will become only the second Nigerian to play for Manchester United, following Odion Ighalo’s loan spell in 2020.
