Manchester United 3-2 Liverpool: Red Devils confirm Champions League spot after late Mainoo goal

Manchester United have confirmed their place for next season’s Champions League with a 3-2 win over fierce rivals Liverpool in a Premier League thriller at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The defeat deals a significant blow to the visitors’ top-four hopes.
The match, which carried immense pressure for both sides, saw United initially dominate before being pegged back, ultimately settling the score with a late goal to take all three points.
Manchester United first-half dominance
Manchester United opened the scoring early, with Matheus Cunha finding the back of the net in the 6th minute, capitalizing on intense attacking pressure from the hosts.

The Red Devils doubled their lead in the 14th minute when Benjamin Šeško finished a slick team move to make it 2-0.
Liverpool struggled to break down United defense for the remainder of the first half, with United holding the lead at the break.
Liverpool fight back
Liverpool came out fighting in the second half, taking control of the game within the first 10 minutes of the restart. Dominik Szoboszlai pulled one back in the 47th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error.
The game changed from there, and in the 56th minute, Cody Gakpo scored silencing the Old Trafford crowd and capping a stunning comeback to make it 2-2.
Mainoo settles it
With the game on a knife-edge and both teams pushing for a winner, United youngster Kobbie Mainoo became the hero in the 77th minute.
Following a quick counter-attack, Mainoo received a pass at the edge of the box and fired a low, precise shot into the bottom left corner to make it 3-2.
Despite intense late pressure from Liverpool in added time, United’s defense stood firm to secure the victory.
