Manchester City weigh move to hijack Chelsea’s Xavi Simons deal

Manchester City are considering stepping in to hijack Chelsea’s move for Xavi Simons, despite the Dutch midfielder already agreeing personal terms with the Blues.
While Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, Simons’ parent club, have yet to finalise an agreement, City are monitoring the situation and could make an approach if space opens up in their squad, according to talkSPORT.
Pep Guardiola’s side are assessing their attacking options following Jack Grealish’s loan move to Everton and James McAtee’s expected transfer to Nottingham Forest.
Although City are reluctant to part ways with Brazilian winger Savinho, linked with a surprise switch to Tottenham, they may sanction his sale if the player pushes to leave.
Simons, 22, primarily operates as an attacking midfielder but is comfortable on either wing, offering versatility that appeals to Guardiola.
The uncertainty around Chelsea’s negotiations has slowed what initially appeared to be a swift transfer, with talks also touching on a possible return for Christopher Nkunku to RB Leipzig.
