Manchester City close gap on Liverpool with narrow 1-0 win against Bournemouth

Manchester City picked a 1-0 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, extending their winning streak to 14 games against the Cherries.

Phil Foden was the hero for City once again, scoring the only goal of the game in the first half.

This marked Foden’s fifth goal in five consecutive appearances against Bournemouth in all competitions.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, struggled to break City’s defense line, failing to register a win in any of their 20 league meetings with the Etihad outfit over 37 years.

The evening’s encounter set a record for the most encounters without a win against a single opponent in the English Football League history.

Despite their efforts, Bournemouth couldn’t find a way past City’s defense, with goalkeeper Ederson making a crucial double-fisted save to deny Dominic Solanke’s header from a corner in the second half.

City’s victory sees them close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to just one point, keeping the title race alive as the season enters its final stages.
