Man United end pre-season with full-time draw vs Fiorentina

Manchester United concluded their pre-season with a penalty shootout win over Fiorentina after a 1-1 draw in the Snapdragon Cup at Old Trafford, where Bryan Mbeumo was the standout performer.
Fiorentina struck first inside 10 minutes when Albian Ajeti’s corner found an unmarked Sohm, who steered his header past Altay Bayindir.
United’s defense was found wanting, and head coach Ruben Amorim showed clear frustration on the touchline.
United levelled in the 25th minute through an own goal from Robin Gosens, who turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Leny Yoro and Casemiro.
Fiorentina protested for a foul in the build-up, but the referee allowed the goal to stand.
Despite the equaliser, United’s midfield struggled for control. Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes were unable to impose themselves, and the team’s build-up play repeatedly faltered under Fiorentina’s press.
Mason Mount, deployed as a false nine, was largely ineffective, while Matheus Cunha had a quiet debut.
In the second half, Amorim switched to a 4-2-3-1, pushing Mbeumo into the striker role and Mount into the No.10 position.
The adjustment improved United’s composure in possession, but neither side could find a winner.
David de Gea, facing his former club, received a rousing reception from the Old Trafford crowd before being substituted ahead of the shootout.
Bayindir saved from Fabiano Parisi in sudden death, and Kobbie Mainoo converted the decisive penalty to give United the trophy.
