Man shocked after discovering his cash was fake while trying to buy phone in Lagos store

A Nigerian man was reportedly left stunned after discovering that the money he carried to purchase a new phone was counterfeit.
The incident was shared online by a lady who works at a phone store, sparking reactions from social media users.

According to the account, the man had visited the shop intending to buy a new mobile device.
He explained that the cash he brought was part of the proceeds from selling his old phone at Ikeja Computer Village, Lagos, and that he planned to add the money to complete the purchase.
The lady said the man was confident about the cash, insisting he had checked it before leaving. However, while attempting to make payment at the store, it became clear that the notes were not genuine but paper-like fakes.
The discovery reportedly left the man visibly shocked and confused, as he claimed he had no prior knowledge that the money was counterfeit.

“He came to buy a phone in our store only to discover that the money he was holding was paper. Apparently, he had sold his old phone to someone in Ikeja Computer Village and wanted to add the money to buy a New Phone. he was sure he checked the money and was shocked when he realized it was paper.”
