Man shares encounter with his friend’s ‘gentle’ girlfriend he always wished his own girlfriend was like

A Nigerian man has taken to social media to share his personal experience that changed his view about relationships and public appearances.
“I Always Admired My Friend’s Girlfriend”
The young man, identified as ChrisBest Oguguo on X (formerly Twitter), revealed he often told his friend how much he admired his girlfriend, who always appeared soft-spoken, calm, and polite whenever they met.
Each time he mentioned it, his friend would only laugh and quickly change the topic.
Strange Instruction at the Gate
According to him, one day during a visit, his friend asked him to enter the compound, stand by the window, and avoid knocking on the door. Though confused, he followed the instruction.
Shocking Discovery Inside the House
While waiting, he overheard a woman shouting angrily from inside the apartment. After a moment, it dawned on him that the voice belonged to the same “gentle” girlfriend he had admired.
“This Same Innocent Girl?” – Man Asks
His friend later explained that his girlfriend had a completely different side when upset and could become extremely aggressive. He even showed him text messages to back it up.
Reflecting on the experience, he warned against building expectations based on what people show publicly.
In his words: ”Several years ago, l used to tell one of my friends how much I wished my girlfriend was like his. She was soft-spoken and looked gentle and seemed very polite.
Whenever I mentioned it to my friend, he would chuckle and change the subject almost immediately.
Then one day, I was going to visit him and when I got to his gate and called him, he didn’t answer.
He rather texted me to ask the gate man to let me in and then stand by his window and not to knock on the door.
I thought that was weird but…
When I entered the compound, I did what he requested and it was at that point that I started overhearing an angry female voice from his apartment.
Wetin dey happen, I asked myself.
It took me almost a minute to realise that was his girlfriend.
You needed to hear the words out of her mouth.
Damn!
Anyways, my guy came out, started narrating how his babe becomes a proper psycho once she gets upset and would say all sorts of nasty things.
This same innocent girl? I asked.
He chuckled again and started showing me text messages.
That was the day I stopped wishing for certain things.
Unfortunately, many young people today have built their marital/relationship expectations based on what they see on social media.
People show you what they want you to see in public. If you use that as a standard without properly knowing them, you may end up disappointed.”
