Man recounts 42-day kidnap ordeal in Ekiti, says family paid ₦17m before escape

A Nigerian man identified as @GbolahanOl75923 has shared a harrowing account of his alleged abduction in Ekiti State.
He shared this on X in response to a post criticized the abduction of a corper.

According to his post, he was kidnapped on October 23 while working as a farm manager at a farm located near the Ekiti–Kogi boundary. He said he spent 42 days in captivity in the wilderness.
He claimed that a ransom of ₦17 million was paid for his release, but despite the payment, he was not freed until he managed to escape alongside other captives. He added that the ransom payment has left him and his family in serious debt.

Expressing frustration over his experience, he lamented the state of security in the country.
@Wizarab10 said: “January last year, we raised money to free a corper that was kidnapped in Rivers State on her way to camp from Ibadan. She was released and has been with her family since. Some Twitter people were made at me snd warned me not to do it again that it would encourage more kidnap.
Another corper has been kidnapped by bandits and neither government nor private individuals are doing anything. They are flogging him within an inch of his life. Is losing his life more important than securing his release abi we have become so desensitized.”
