Man passes out of NYSC after 2 years, shares his story

A Nigerian man has shared how he eventually completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme after a two-year journey.

The man, identified on X as @maaxthewave, narrated his experience while reflecting on finally passing out of the compulsory service scheme.

According to him, he was first mobilised for NYSC on November 1, 2023, and completed orientation camp on November 21 of the same year.

However, his service year was cut short in February 2024 when he absconded from the programme to attend law school. After completing his law school programme, he returned in November 2024 and attempted to resume his NYSC service.

Due to NYSC regulations, he was required to start the programme afresh. Although he initiated the process in November 2024, his remobilisation was eventually approved in January 2025, allowing him to restart officially.

“I first started November 1st 2023. Did camp till November 21st 2023. Dropped out (absconded) February 2024 for law school. Came back from law school November 10th 2024. Tried to restart my NYSC (as I had to start afresh) that same November. They restarted me January 2025,” he explained when queried.
