Man narrates his experience with Nigerian ‘big man’ who bashed his car

A Nigerian man identified as Tayo Onasanya on Twitter has recounted his harrowing experience with a fellow road user who bashed his car.

According to Onasanya, the incident happened around the Anthony area of Lagos state, while he was heading to the airport.

He said the man who owned an SUV bashed his Toyota Camry ride and refused to apologize for what he had done.

Onasanya claimed that even after officers of the Lagos Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and Nigerian Police Force (NPF) intervened in the matter, the individual continued to make snide remarks instead of making amends.

Aggrieved Onasanya claimed that his offender offered to give the officers money instead of apologizing for bashing the car of a ‘common man’. He also said that when he brought out his phone to capture the incident, the police officer backed away with the claim that the individual is a ‘big man’ and he does not want to lose his job.

“He promised the officers he will rather give them money than apologize or fix a common man’s car, the officers left when I brought out my phone to cover the event, they said I should face it myself, the policeman claimed, “the man is a BIG man, I don’t want to lose my job,” his tweet read.

Concluding the narration, Onasanya claimed that the man noted that ‘commoners’ do not have a voice in Nigeria, before bashing his car a second time and driving off.
