Man lures wife back from Australia, dumps her, takes her phone and papers, returns — Here’s his reason

A marriage drama involving a Nigerian couple has ignited heated conversations online after a social media user shared claims of how a man allegedly abandoned his wife in Nigeria after luring her back from Australia.
The story, which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), quickly went viral, drawing strong and divided reactions from netizens across the platform.
How the Alleged Incident Happened
According to the post, the man convinced his wife to travel with him from Australia to Nigeria under the pretence of attending his parents’ anniversary celebration.
However, upon their arrival in Nigeria, the man reportedly seized her travel documents and phone before returning alone to Australia, leaving the woman stranded.
The post claimed the couple had ongoing disagreements over childbirth. The wife allegedly insisted she did not want to carry a pregnancy herself and preferred surrogacy, a stance the husband strongly opposed.
Marriage, Relocation, and Breakdown
Further details revealed that the couple got married in 2022, while the wife relocated to Australia in 2024 to join her husband.
The man reportedly viewed her refusal to carry a pregnancy as a deal-breaker, insisting that marriage should end if she was unwilling to have children herself.
“He says if you don’t want to carry pregnancy then marriage is over. Let him find someone who is willing to be a wife,” the post stated.
It was also alleged that the man’s family had begun the process of returning the woman’s dowry, signalling the end of the marriage.
Wife Stands Firm on Bodily Autonomy
The woman, according to the post, maintained that no one had the right to force her into pregnancy against her will.
She reportedly insisted that decisions about her body should remain hers alone, regardless of marital expectations.
The original poster questioned whether the situation could have been handled differently, asking if compromise was possible or if the man acted too harshly.
Mixed Reactions Trail the Story
The post sparked intense debates, with users expressing sharply opposing views.
Bobby wrote, “The man is smart and should be considered a genius.”
Temmy countered, “You’ve not read about those on family planning plans without the consent of their partner?”
Black Pope dismissed the story’s authenticity but still backed the man, saying, “Even though this never happened, there will never be a world where I won’t support the man’s decision.”
Others defended the woman’s choice. VickyPipe commented, “The woman no want stress for her life, plus na she know wetin she dey protect for her body.”
Biggy Bounty criticised the discourse entirely, writing, “Some people will always support bad things. Which nonsense discussion will they have before marriage?”
