Man advised to stake ₦20 million on sports betting after raising ₦22 million for leg surgery
A Nigerian man who recently raised over ₦22 million for his leg surgery has cried out after being advised to stake ₦26 million on sports betting.
The development was shared in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, by @_belikebaddy.
He posted a screenshot of a message sent to the beneficiary by another user who encouraged him to take ₦20 million from the donated funds and place a bet with the hope of winning big.
This comes weeks after the man’s medical condition gained attention on the platform, following a campaign led by influencer Dickson to help raise funds for his surgery.
Within two weeks, the full amount needed, over ₦22 million was successfully raised.
However, just hours after reaching the goal, the man received a message from an X user suggesting he should secretly gamble a large portion of the money.
The message read, “Free ₦16 million, run it brother. Run it off the books without anyone knowing.”
The man shared the conversation publicly, prompting a wave of reactions from concerned users in the comment section.
