Malang Sarr sad over ‘lost time’ during Chelsea spell
Malang Sarr has spoken about his frustrating stint at Chelsea, which ended this summer with a move to French side RC Lens.
The 25-year-old defender joined the Blues on a free transfer from OGC Nice in 2020 but struggled to make an impact, spending most of his time out on loan.

Speaking to L’Équipe, Sarr revealed his disappointment at how his Chelsea career unfolded, particularly last season when he didn’t feature in a single game under then-manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Despite the challenges, the Frenchman insists he holds no regrets about his time at Stamford Bridge.
“A victim of football business is a strong term, but I’ve paid for it,” Sarr admitted.
“If this banishment was because of my performance or my character, I should have worked on myself. But I experienced all of this despite myself.”
Sarr made just 21 appearances for Chelsea over four years, spending loan spells at Porto and AS Monaco.
After returning from a difficult period in Ligue 1 last summer, the influx of new players and a managerial change further limited his chances.
Reflecting on the experience, Sarr described it as “lost time” but is determined to make the most of his fresh start at Lens.
