Maduka Okoye banned from football over illegal betting

Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has received a 2-month ban from football over illegal betting.
Recall that Maduka Okoye was investigated for suspicious betting activity surrounding a yellow card he received during a Serie A match against Lazio on March 11, 2024.
The bets were placed at 8/1 odds, resulting in over €120,000 in winnings.
Maduka Okoye ban commences on August 18, 2025, and will end on October 19, 2025.
During this period, he’ll miss six Serie A matches and Udinese’s Coppa Italia tie.
The ban could have been more severe, with Okoye facing a possible four-year suspension for sporting fraud, but the authorities opted for a lesser charge of illegal betting.
