“Lower your standards now or stay lonely forever” – Lady advises young women
A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after sharing advice to young women about relationships and marriage.
Lowering Standards to Find a Partner
In the clip shared by @Dammiedammie35 on X, the lady addressed her young women, warning that independence might be keeping some women from finding husbands.
“My dear girls, I want to warn you. We have to lower our standard because it’s getting too much. Independent woman, independent woman is getting too much,” she said.
The Risk of Being Too Independent
She admitted she has previously encouraged women to be independent, earn their own money, and be self-reliant before choosing a partner. But now, she warns that holding too high a standard could lead to loneliness.
“No, let’s be brutal, let’s be honest. I know I’ve been saying women make your own money, be independent before you choose your partner. If you don’t get, in short, if you don’t lower your standard now, you’re going to end up lonely,” she added.
Life Without Lowering Standards
She painted a vivid picture of what life might look like if women insist on maintaining very high standards
“Very lonely in a beautiful resort, travelling from one country to another, sipping juice in the yacht, sipping champagne, enjoying yourself, coming into your beautiful decorated apartment where everything is already there. Beautiful, aesthetically pleasing apartment. You might have cats or dog, I don’t know, but the most important thing is that your toilet seat is always going to be closed. Nobody’s going to be touching your things anyhow. Are you sure you’re not going to lower your standard like this? Are you sure?”
