“Love won’t feed me” – 19-year-old lady sparks debate after listing what a man must provide in relationships

A 19-year-old Nigerian lady has sparked conversations online after sharing her blunt views on dating, financial responsibility, and what partners should bring into a relationship.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @mazi_chinonso, she stated that any man who chooses to date her must be ready to take care of her financially and emotionally.

She insisted that providing money, clothing, and general care is part of a boyfriend’s responsibility.

In her words, she said:

“When you’re dating me, it’s your right to take care of me, to give me money, to cloth me, to do anything. It’s your right. You don’t expect me to do it because you’re dating me. You’re my boyfriend.

I’m dating a guy now. What are you bringing to the table? Na just love we wan dey chop? No now. You will be giving me money and taking care of me.”

She added that if a man is unable to provide, it is better for both parties to walk away, stressing that love alone is not enough to sustain a relationship.

The teenager also explained what she believes she brings into a relationship. According to her, she offers emotional support, prayers for her partner’s success, and intimacy.

Her comments have since triggered mixed reactions online, with some people agreeing with her expectations, while others criticized her mindset, saying she is too young to place such demands.

A commentator wrote, “At 19, this mindset is scary. Life will teach you.” Another said, “She’s just saying what many people think but won’t say out loud.”
