Lizzie Schofield is a gardener, the new presenter of Beechgrove Garden 2023, and a primary school teacher. Lizzie and her husband Malcolm acquired a home on the seaside at Buckie, Moray, with almost no garden.

Lizzie Schofield was born in February 1984. Lizzie Schofield, author of The Beechgrove Garden, is from and lives in northeast Scotland, where she designed her award-winning garden on a difficult coastal location. She is an ambassador for the Scottish Garden Scheme and blogs about her gardening adventures from her home in Scotland.

Career

They purchased the adjacent block of land around 7 years ago, which had a high bank. They weren’t gardeners and learnt as they went by reading books and periodicals and watching gardening shows. They added steps and terraces, planted the garden from the ground up, built a pergola, and filled the yard with colour to create a lovely garden.

Lizzie and her husband Malcom’s stunning coastal garden in Buckie received the Judges’ and People’s Choice Awards in the 2020 Gardener’s World Magazine Garden of the Year competition.

Their hillside garden at Cuthbert’s Brae, which overlooks the Moray Coast, is also open to the Scotland’s Gardens Scheme, for which Lizzie is an ambassador.

The garden and Lizzie first appeared in Beechgrove 2021, when they paid a visit to her award-winning garden and Willow work. Lizzie was a Remote Guest Presenter in Beechgrove 2022, alongside Diana Yates and Erin & Joe Armstrong, who will also return for Beechgrove Garden 2023.

Lizzie also featured as a guest on Beechgrove Gardens this winter. Lizzie Schofield joins the 2023 presenter lineup, which includes the longest-serving presenter, Carole Baxter, as well as George Anderson, Brian Cunningham, Kirsty Wilson, Calum Clunie, Diana Yates, and Head Gardener/Presenter Scott Smith.

Lizzie made her presenting debut in Episode 3 on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Lizzie lives with her husband, Malcom, and their two children in Buckie on the Moray Coast, Scotland.
