Liverpool unveil first images of Diogo Jota, Andre Silva memorial outside Anfield

Liverpool have released the first images of a permanent memorial dedicated to former forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva following their tragic deaths last year.
The tribute, named ‘Forever 20’, will be placed on 97 Avenue outside Anfield near the Main Stand, in the same area where supporters gathered to leave flowers, scarves and banners after the fatal car accident in Spain that claimed the lives of both brothers.
Heart-shaped design inspired by Jota celebration
The centrepiece of the memorial is a flowing heart sculpture inspired by Jota’s iconic goal celebration during his time at Liverpool.
The club revealed that the sculpture has been designed to appear differently depending on the viewing angle, with the numbers 20 and 30 visible as references to the squad numbers worn by Jota and Silva during their careers.

Liverpool also confirmed that tributes left by fans during the mourning period have been incorporated into the memorial itself through a recycling process embedded within the stone plinth.
Personal touches included in tribute
The memorial will feature several personal details linked to Jota’s life away from football, including a video game controller symbol acknowledging his passion for gaming and eSports.
Lyrics from the popular chant sung by Liverpool supporters for Jota will also be engraved onto the structure. Fans have continued singing the song during the 20th minute of matches in honour of the Portuguese forward.

The area is expected to serve as a permanent place of reflection for supporters and visitors paying tribute to the former Liverpool star and his brother.
Liverpool continue to honour Jota’s legacy
The ‘Forever 20’ memorial is part of Liverpool’s broader efforts to preserve Jota’s legacy at the club.
Earlier this year, the club permanently retired the No. 20 shirt across the men’s, women’s and academy teams in honour of the forward’s contribution during his five years at Anfield.
