Liverpool seal £79m deal for Hugo Ekitike

Liverpool have reached a transfer agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for striker Hugo Ekitike in a deal worth up to £79 million.

Following a tense negotiation period, the Premier League champions struck a compromise with the Bundesliga club, agreeing to pay an initial £69m ($93m) with an additional £10m in performance-related add-ons, reports The Athletic.

Frankfurt had previously been holding out for a total fee closer to £82m ($110m).

Ekitike, 23, is expected to finalise personal terms briefly, with a six-year contract already on the table.

The French forward will undergo a medical before joining Arne Slot’s squad on their pre-season tour of Asia.

This acquisition comes after Liverpool’s unsuccessful pursuit of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, who is now in talks with Al-Hilal.

Ekitike had also been on Newcastle’s radar earlier in the window.

Ekitike had a standout 2024–25 campaign, netting 22 goals and providing 12 assists for Frankfurt.

He becomes Liverpool’s latest marquee addition following the high-profile arrivals of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez.
