“Let’s not be…” – Man questions ‘overhyped’ praise for Alex Otti, compares his governance to Sanwo-Olu

A Nigerian man has sparked debate online after questioning the growing praise around Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, asking Nigerians to take a step back and assess his performance after two years in office.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @generalsomto, he argued that the hype around Abia State feels exaggerated when compared to Lagos, where projects are more visible.

He stressed that Governor Otti still has a long time in office, noting that he has about six more years to serve, which means there is still room to do more.

However, he questioned whether what has been done so far justifies the level of praise being given.

“Everybody keeps talking about Abia State, except you’re not a politically exposed person. What has the governor really done in two years that is warranting all this noise?”

The man went further to compare Otti’s performance with that of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, suggesting that Lagos residents can clearly point to visible developments and ongoing projects.

He warned Nigerians not to be carried away by hype, adding that leadership should be judged by tangible results, not online praise or political sentiments.

“Let’s not deceive ourselves. He still has years to go. Is he doing enough like the Lagos State governor?”

The comments have since triggered mixed reactions online. While some agreed that Nigerians should demand more accountability from leaders, others defended Alex Otti, insisting that Abia State has recorded improvements under his leadership.
