“Leave innocent children out of your dirty politics” – Femi Branch reacts to Oyo pupils’ release, makes emotional appeal

Veteran Nollywood actor Femi Branch has made an emotional appeal to Nigerians, urging politicians to stop dragging innocent children into political conflicts.

Reacting to the release of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State after 56 days in captivity, the actor lamented that many Nigerian children are already burdened by hardship and a struggling education system, stressing that they should never become victims of political interests.

“I just want to beg us in this country. Whatever dirty politics we are all playing, whatever dirty games we’re doing, can we just leave these innocent children out of it? The children in this country are suffering enough,” he said.

The actor stressed that the victims deserve urgent medical attention and psychological support to help them recover from the traumatic ordeal.

Femi Branch further questioned the timing of the pupils’ abduction, referencing Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent political declaration for presidential bid.

According to him, the sequence of events had fueled public speculation, although he maintained that he was not accusing anyone but simply making an appeal for children to be kept out of political disputes.

“Those kids need to be attended to because they must be traumatized by now. Can we just leave these poor children out of our dirty politics? Please. I’m not attacking anybody. I’m just appealing to us. Can we just leave the innocent children out of our madness?” he added.

His remarks have since fueled conversations online, with many Nigerians agreeing that children should never bear the consequences of political disagreements or power struggles.
