LaLiga: Mbappe, Bellingham fire Real Madrid past Valencia to extend lead

Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham continued their fine form as Real Madrid eased past Valencia 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu to move seven points clear at the top of La Liga.

Mbappe opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 19th minute after Cesar Tarrega handled Franco Mastantuono’s corner.

The Frenchman struck again 12 minutes later, volleying in Arda Guler’s cross after a fine pass from Bellingham.

Vinicius Jr then had a chance to make it three before halftime but saw his penalty saved by Julen Agirrezabala.

Bellingham and Carreras seal the win

Real didn’t have to wait long for a third. Bellingham made space at the edge of the box and curled in a superb effort past the Valencia goalkeeper to cap a dominant first half.

Alvaro Carreras completed the rout late on, smashing a left-footed strike into the top corner for his first La Liga goal.

Real firmly in control

The victory was Real Madrid’s fourth straight league win and their 10th in 11 matches. Villarreal sit second after thrashing Rayo Vallecano, while Barcelona can close the gap to five points if they beat Elche on Sunday.

Xabi Alonso’s men now turn their attention to Europe, where they face Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday before returning to domestic action against Rayo Vallecano next weekend.
