LaLiga: Akor Adams, Ejuke strike as Sevilla rout Oviedo 4-0

Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke signed off in style before joining the Super Eagles camp, scoring in Sevilla’s emphatic 4-0 win over Real Oviedo on Sunday.

Adams ended a seven-game goal drought inside four minutes, calmly finishing after racing onto a well-weighted lofted pass from Lucien Agoumé to give Sevilla an early advantage.

The Nigerian forward then shifted roles, turning provider in the 22nd minute as he set up Djibril Sow to double Sevilla’s lead before the interval.

After the restart, Adams continued to dictate proceedings, supplying the assist for Baptiste Mendy’s strike in the 51st minute to effectively put the contest beyond Oviedo.

Ejuke adds late gloss

Substitute Chidera Ejuke rounded off a dominant display in the 88th minute, firing home Sevilla’s fourth shortly after Oviedo were reduced to 10 men following David Carmo’s dismissal for two quick yellow cards.

Timely boost ahead of AFCON

The victory marked Sevilla’s first win in four matches, snapping a run of two draws and two defeats.

It also served as a confidence boost for Adams, who now has three goals and three assists in 14 appearances this season.

Both Adams and Ejuke will now link up with the Super Eagles in Egypt ahead of the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, as Nigeria target a fourth continental title under head coach Éric Chelle.
