Lagos, Ogun to experience 25-day power outage

Lagos and Ogun states are set to experience a 25-day power outage starting from July 28, 2025, to August 21, 2025.

The power outage will last for 9 hours daily, from 8 am to 5 pm.

The outage is due to scheduled maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.

The maintenance aims to install an Optical Ground Wire (OGW) fibre cable, enabling full operationalization of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for real-time monitoring and grid management.

Additionally, businesses, banks, and manufacturers are expected to face significant losses, with estimated costs running into hundreds of billions of naira.
