Lady turns to frying akara and yam for livelihood after father ejects her and mother from home

A Nigerian lady has shared how she resorted to frying akara and yam on the streets to make a living after her father chased her and her mother out of their home.

This was revealed in a video posted on the popular social media platform TikTok, where the young woman, identified as Ruth, was interviewed about her life experiences.

Ruth explained that she sells akara, potatoes, and yam, and also makes pap to support herself.

She added that she works as a tailor but is currently not in school due to a lack of sponsorship.

She said, “My name is Ruth, I fry akara, potatoes and yam and I make pap and I’m also a tailor. I’m not in school for now, no one to sponsor me, that’s why I’m doing this business to help my living.”

Ruth expressed her desire to further her education, naming the institution she dreams of attending. “I want to go to school, Nigeria Defence Academy, in Kaduna State. My dream is to become a soldier,” she said.

Speaking about her most painful memory, she recalled, “The saddest day in my life was the day my dad drove us away from the house, beat us.”

She also voiced her hope for the future: “I believe that one day, I’ll make it in life, I’ll be bigger than this and the world will see it. I’m proud of my mum, she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

The video has since gone viral, attracting numerous comments from concerned individuals who expressed support and encouragement for Ruth.
