Lady shares how boarding school turned her into a barren woman
A Nigerian lady has moved many online after sharing her painful experience during her time in boarding school, which left her barren.
Alleged Boarding School Experience
The lady, who chose to remain anonymous, said she attended a very popular boarding school in Enugu State.
She recalled how, after her first year, she told her mother she didn’t want to continue at the school because of the bad influences she witnessed.
However, her parents refused to switch her to another school.
“…That incident, it repeated a few more times, and that was how life continued. I joined them and we started running things together. The time I went home, I wanted to tell my mom about it to change the school.
My mom refused. Daddy about it, my daddy accepted but my mom refused and it got to a point that my mommy and daddy had to f!ght over it. That my mommy told my daddy that this is not how to train a child. They sent me back again,” she said.
Lured Into a Dangerous Group
She described how some senior students invited her to join their group under the pretense of protection and friendship.
Initially thinking it was harmless, she accepted. But she soon discovered the group engaged in dangerous activities.
She was reportedly pressured into attending a night party, given a drink, and forced to sleep with a man.
“I didn’t know what happened but the only thing I could remember was that they gave me a drink and forced me to take it,” she said. “When I woke up, I was bleeding heavily. I didn’t know what happened to me. The girls told me it was my period, but I had never experienced anything like it. I got up, tried to move and I felt a very sharp pain.
The abuse reportedly continued multiple times, with the young girl coerced into further encounters while trying to fit in.
Unsafe Pregnancy Termination and Health Complications
She later became pregnant while in school and was advised to terminate the pregnancy using unsafe methods.
The procedure caused severe complications, including a foul-smelling discharge and persistent health problems.
She recounted: “I started having a foul smell. So I told them about it and they said they were going to buy some drugs for me, which they did. When they brought the drugs, I took some of them and the pain did not stop. At this time, water was coming out from my body, from my private area, and the water was smelling so bad. I told them I wanted to go to the hospital. They told me it’s not possible. I started having fever in school. That was how they called my mom to come and carry me from school. I didn’t even know what to tell them what happened to me. When my mom took me to the hospital, the doctor excused my mom to attend to me, to examine me. He asked me what I did. I didn’t tell him, but he told me that whatever I did, that I have to speak up for him to help me. I begged him not to tell my mom about it and he accepted. That was how this doctor told me I’m very beautiful. But because of fear and for the fact that I didn’t want my mom to know about it, I told the doctor that I was his girlfriend, just so he can treat me without telling my mom what was wrong with me. The doctor accepted and treated me. I got some medications. I went for a scan. I was treated. He concealed everything, and after I got better.”
Long-Term Consequences
As a result of the events at boarding school and the unsafe procedures she underwent, she was later diagnosed with a problem in her womb.
After getting married, she remained unable to conceive.
I’m still barren. I can’t have a child. This is 10 years later. All because my mom didn’t listen to me. All because my mother fought my daddy for accepting to change school. I just want my story to be out there. I just want people to be vigilant that when my mom accepted to, you know, change my school or even gave me a listening ear, I would not be in this situation right now,” she stated.
