Lady shares experience at an Ikoyi restaurant

A Nigerian lady has shared an experience she described as awkward and amusing after dining with her sister at a restaurant in Ikoyi.
According to her account, when they requested the bill, a waiter informed them that a group of men had already paid for their meal.

The sisters reportedly acknowledged the gesture with a nod and a “thank you” from their table but did not approach the men.
However, about 10 minutes later, the waiter allegedly returned to inform them that the men wanted them to pay the bill themselves since they did not come over to their table.
Reacting to the incident, the lady remarked that “men can be funny,” suggesting that some try to “weaponize their provision.” She added that they were not financially stranded and did not need the gesture in the first place.
She said in part …
“My sister and I once went to a restaurant in Ikoyi, Lagos. When we asked for the bill, the waiter told us that some gentlemen had already paid for our meal. We looked at them, nodded and say thank you. We stayed a few more minutes to take pictures, but about 10 minutes later, the waiter returned and said the men wanted us to pay the bill ourselves since we didn’t come over to their table. Men can be funny. They try to weaponize their provision. We’re not even broke.”
