Lady nabs traders repackaging rice
Identified on TikTok as @gracie249, the woman said she stumbled upon a troubling practice while going about her usual activities.
According to her, traders bought discarded branded rice bags and took them to a section of the market where large quantities of locally grown grain were stored.
She videoed as the local rice was poured into the branded sacks, sealed, and arranged among other goods meant for unsuspecting customers who assumed they were buying imported rice.
She noted that the entire operation was carried out openly, with no attempt to hide it.
From her observations, many buyers paying premium prices for supposed imported rice would have no idea they were actually being sold something completely different.
“Rice sellers: Na foreign rice. Dey play,” she captioned the post.
Netizens groan

@OLUFEYISAYO wrote: “Why should they tag it foreign rice when it’s not? Why exactly are you defending this daylight fraud? Omoo this country nawa oo.”
