Lady expresses shock after being asked to buy offering envelope at Winners Chapel
A Nigerian lady has stirred reactions on social media after sharing her unexpected experience at a church she recently visited.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she explained that she had recently moved to a new area and wanted to find a nearby church to attend.
She said she came across a branch of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winner’s Chapel) and chose to worship there.
In her words:
“I just moved to a new environment, and I thought I’d look for a nearby church to attend, which happened to be Winners Chapel.
When I got there, I saw two women sitting at the entrance, so I asked for an offering envelope. To my surprise, they told me it was for sale. I just had to turn away from them and enter the church, because how could I buy an envelope to give out my money in your church?”
She explained that the incident happened shortly after she arrived at the church premises.
According to her, the response she received from the women at the entrance left her surprised.
The lady said she immediately turned away from them and entered the church without the envelope because she could not understand why she would be required to buy one before giving her offering
Her post has since triggered mixed reactions online.
One user wrote, “If it was truly for sale, then that’s not a church, na business center.” Another added, “Maybe na misunderstanding. The might be referring to another type of envelope.”
