Lady cries out after being scammed of ₦50 million by man she met on Tinder

A lady identified as Bukola, has recounted how she was allegedly defrauded of ₦50 million by a man she met on a dating app after pressure from her family to settle down.
According to her account, Bukola said her family encouraged her in 2023 to give relationships another chance, warning that she could not remain single forever.
Acting on the advice, she downloaded Tinder, where she met a man who introduced himself as Alex.
Woman alleges she was defrauded by online suitor
She explained that Alex claimed to be a businessman involved in building and construction and spoke convincingly about plans to build an event centre and a hotel.
Bukola said his confidence and the way he publicly introduced her as his wife made her believe she had found a genuine partner to build a future with.
However, Bukola alleged that after repeatedly giving him money for supposed business projects, she later discovered that “Alex” was not his real name and that the woman he introduced as his younger sister was actually his legally married wife, with whom he has three children.
Speaking emotionally, Bukola said: “After he had collected all my money, that was when I realised I had been scammed. His real name is Bankole Babalola. The woman he told me was his younger sister is his wife, and they have three kids. They scammed me of ₦50 million. I even spoke to the wife then, and she agreed she was his sister.”
She further claimed that the man had a history of scamming others as far back as 2012 and 2013, describing the experience as one of the darkest moments of her life.
