Lachlan Power (born August 25, 1995), often known by the alias Lachlan, is an Australian YouTuber, professional gamer, and internet celebrity best known for his Fortnite Battle Royale video game commentary. He founded PWR, a lifestyle brand and gaming business.

Power created a YouTube account called CraftBattleDuty in 2013 and predominantly offered video game commentary for Minecraft, Battlefield, and Call of Duty. When he started publishing Fortnite videos in 2017, his channel’s popularity skyrocketed. In January 2019, his channel attracted 10 million subscribers, making him the first Australian gaming content creator to reach that milestone.

As of March 2024, the channel had over 15 million subscribers and 5 billion video views, making it the seventh most subscribed and fifth most viewed channel on the platform in Australia.

Lachlan Ross Power was born on August 25, 1995, in Brisbane, Queensland, and grew up in Shailer Park. His father, Darren Power, was mayor of Logan City from 2020 to 2024, and his mother, Lynne Power, is a bank manager.

Lachlan was raised with three siblings: a younger brother, Mitchell Power, a content creator and Twitch streamer known as “Fighter_Power”; an elder sister, Jackie Power, who has appeared in his vlogs; and an unknown sibling.

His early interest in football and video games influenced his athletic lifestyle. Lachlan attended high school in Shailer Park, where he was an average student with a strong interest in sports, notably football, and aspired to play professionally.

He briefly attended university to study information technology before dropping out to focus on his YouTube career, motivated by his rising prominence on the platform. His rural upbringing and family support fuelled his creativity and business zeal.

Career

Power established the “CraftBattleDuty” YouTube channel on March 19, 2013. His early work consisted mostly of video game commentaries for Minecraft, Battlefield, and Call of Duty; his channel name is a combination of these three games.

He was a member of the Minecraft group, the Pack, which also included JeromeASF, PrestonPlayz, Vikkstar123, Woofless, and Bajan Canadian. His channel’s popularity skyrocketed once he started playing Fortnite Battle Royale in 2017.

In January 2019, his channel attracted 10 million subscribers, making him the first Australian gaming content creator to reach that milestone. Power’s YouTube stream reached 198,976 concurrent views in October 2019, during Fortnite’s season-ending live event, “The End”.

On October 29, 2019, it was revealed that Power has secured a deal with YouTube to exclusively stream on the site; he had previously streamed on Twitch.

In June 2020, Power founded PWR, a professional esports Fortnite team located in Queensland, Australia, that eventually evolved into a gaming, entertainment, and fashion company. In 2018, he created the merchandise brand Power by Lachlan. In October 2020, Power earned his own Fortnite gear as part of the Fortnite Icon Series.

In January 2019, Power took part in the Australian Open Fortnite Summer Smash Charity Pro-Am. In July 2019, he finished 18th in the Fortnite World Cup Pro-Am alongside actor Liam McIntyre, with $20,000 donated to charity. In October 2019, Power gave $15,000 to Team Trees, a deforestation-fighting fundraising campaign that promises to plant one tree for every dollar donated. In January 2020, Power held a charity live stream to collect funds for the ongoing Australian wildfire relief effort, raising $34,849, including a $30,000 gift from streamer Ninja. That month, he collaborated with Epic Games to raise awareness for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) by being one of the first to play the new Fortnite game mode “Liferun,” which allows players to participate in life-saving missions similar to those of the ICRC. Power won the second edition of the Fortnite Summer Smash Pro-Am in February 2020, alongside fellow Australian YouTuber Fresh and singer Enschway, and $30,000 was donated to their chosen charities.
