“Killings must stop” – Pastor David Ibiyeomie warns government, urges Christians to embrace self-defense

Founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has raised alarm over the rising attacks on Christians in Nigeria, urging believers to take measures to protect themselves if the government fails to act.
The pastor’s comments come amid increasing reports of violent attacks on churches, worshippers, and Christian communities across the Northern region, sparking fear and concern among citizens.
Speaking during a recent sermon, Ibiyeomie stressed that Christians must wake up and take responsibility for their safety, citing Israel as an example of a nation that refused to be wiped out despite being surrounded by enemies.
He emphasised that self-defense may be necessary when governmental authorities are unable to provide adequate protection.
“Killing of Christians must stop in Nigeria. Christians need to wake up. Israel is a small nation and they didn’t allow Arabs to wipe them out. If government can’t defend you, defend yourself. Get yourself a walking stick,” he said.
He further stressed how Israel’s vigilance and readiness to protect itself ensured the nation survived hostile surroundings, urging Nigerian Christians to adopt a similar mindset for their safety.
The pastor’s remarks reflect frustration among religious leaders over what they see as insufficient action by authorities to curb attacks on churches and believers.
