Keanu Reeves (born September 2, 1964) is a Canadian actor and musician. He has received numerous awards during his four-decade career on screen and is noted for his prominent parts in action films, his affable public image, and his charity initiatives.
In 2020, The New York Times rated him the fourth greatest actor of the twenty-first century, and in 2022, Time magazine named him one of the world’s 100 most important people.
Reeves made his directorial debut with Man of Tai Chi (2013). After a period of modest economic success, he made a comeback as the titular assassin in the action film series John Wick (2014–present). Reeves voiced Duke Caboom in Toy Story 4 (2019) and played Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077 (2020) and its expansion.

Keanu Charles Reeves was born in Beirut, Lebanon, on September 2, 1964. He is the son of Patricia (née Taylor), a costume designer and actor, and Samuel Nowlin Reeves Jr.
They split while he was young, and he moved in with his mother. The family relocated first to Sydney, then to New York City, and eventually to Toronto, where Reeves was raised. He struggled in school and attended four different high schools, one of which specialised in the arts, before leaving to pursue an acting career.
Career
His first professional appearance came in a 1984 episode of the comedy series Hangin’ In. Following numerous parts in television films and shows, Reeves made his film debut as a hockey player in Youngblood (1986), which is set in the world of junior hockey in Canada.
Later the same year, he rose to prominence for his portrayal of a disgruntled youngster in the gloomy drama River’s Edge, as well as his role as the son of an alcoholic parent (Andy Griffith) in the television film Under the Influence.
Over the next two years, Reeves acted in various films, the most notable of which was Dangerous Liaisons (1988), before starring in the slacker comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989), which follows two high-school students who time-travel for a history assignment.
