Kane reaches 100 goals for Bayern in record time

Harry Kane struck twice on Friday as Bayern Munich defeated Werder Bremen, becoming the fastest player this century to score 100 goals for a club in Europe’s top five leagues.
The England captain converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time and added a second from close range in the 65th minute to hit the century mark in just 104 appearances.
The previous record of 105 games was set by Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid in 2011 and equalled by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland last year.
Bayern maintain unbeaten start
Former Liverpool winger Luis Díaz opened the scoring when he deflected in a Jonathan Tah effort, before Konrad Laimer added a late fourth.

The 4-0 victory preserved Bayern’s unbeaten start to the season under manager Vincent Kompany.
Kane has now scored 15 goals in eight matches across all competitions this campaign, including two hat-tricks in the Bundesliga.
Record-breaking form
The 32-year-old has already set several Bundesliga records, becoming the quickest to 70 league goals in just 67 matches and the fastest to 50 goals in 43 appearances.
He is also the first player in the competition’s history to convert his first 18 penalties.
Kane, who joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for £100m, has two years left on his current deal.
He dismissed speculation about a return to the Premier League, saying: “I’m really happy here. I have two years left on my contract. I’m enjoying every moment and hopefully we continue to be successful.”
