Jude Bellingham to miss start of 2025/26 season as Real Madrid plan post-Club World Cup surgery
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is set to undergo shoulder surgery after the 2025 Club World Cup.
This will reportedly rule him out of the start of the 2025/26 season, according to The Athletic.
Bellingham has been struggling with a persistent shoulder issue since dislocating it in November 2023 during a match against Rayo Vallecano.
While the injury sidelined him briefly, Real Madrid’s packed fixture list forced a delay in definitive treatment.
Now, the club’s medical staff has concluded that surgery is necessary to prevent long-term complications.
The recovery timeline is estimated at a minimum of 12 weeks, meaning the England international will miss preseason and at least the opening phase of the next campaign.
Spanish outlet Marca adds that Madrid have been concerned by Bellingham’s recent dip in form, prompting internal discussions.
Despite a strong debut season, his output this term has dropped to 13 goals and 14 assists across all competitions.
Bellingham is expected to feature in Carlo Ancelotti’s final match in charge this weekend when Real Madrid host Real Sociedad.
