JAMB releases 2026 UTME registration guidelines: What candidates must do before applying

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has issued detailed instructions ahead of registration for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Verify your personal details before generating a profile code

According to an announcement shared on JAMB’s official X handle on Sunday, prospective candidates must ensure that all personal details, particularly their National Identification Number, email address, and any A-Level results—are correct before generating a profile code.

Candidates are required to send their 11-digit NIN to either 55019 or 66019 using the format NIN 00000011111.

Once a profile code is successfully generated, it cannot be modified, as the candidate’s biodata is automatically sourced from the National Identity Management Commission database.

Following the successful generation of the code, applicants are to visit the nearest JAMB office or any accredited CBT centre to commence their registration.

Where and how to complete your 2026 UTME registration

The Board also emphasised that E-PINs must be purchased strictly through authorised channels, including banks, certified online platforms, or approved vendors situated at registration centres.

The guidelines form part of JAMB’s annual effort to streamline the UTME process, reduce errors, and curb fraud associated with unauthorised vendors.

Candidates are also urged to regularly monitor the official JAMB portal and social media accounts for updates regarding registration deadlines, examination schedules, and any procedural changes.

Staying informed helps prevent missed announcements and protects applicants from scams, such as purchasing E-PINs from unauthorised sources.

Early registration is recommended to avoid technical glitches and long queues at peak periods, ensuring a smooth process and allowing candidates to focus on adequate preparation for the 2026 UTME.
