Jake Paul reacts to Anthony Joshua’s tragic accident, 2 friends’ deaths

American boxer and influencer Jake Paul has expressed sorrow following a road accident involving world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, which claimed two lives and left others injured.

The crash occurred on Monday around noon at Makun, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Anthony Joshua was travelling in a Lexus SUV with Lagos registration number KRD 850 HN when the vehicle rammed into a stationary truck.

The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Mr Afolabi Odunsi, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta.

Odunsi said the accident involved two vehicles and that operatives from the Sagamu Unit Command of the FRSC responded promptly after receiving a distress call.

According to the FRSC, preliminary investigations showed that excessive speed and wrongful overtaking were responsible for the crash. The driver reportedly overtook from the right side and collided with the stationary truck.

“Five people were involved in the crash. One person sustained injuries, two were unhurt, while two persons lost their lives,” Odunsi said.

He added that Anthony Joshua was among those involved but only sustained injuries. The boxer was taken to an undisclosed hospital by his security detail.

“The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the morgue, and the obstruction on the road has been cleared,” the FRSC spokesperson stated.

The Ogun State Police Command also confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Officer, Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi. He said the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the Livewell Hospital Morgue in Sagamu.

Reacting to the incident, Jake Paul shared a message expressing his condolences to the victims’ families and support for Joshua.

“Life is much more important than boxing. I am praying for the lost lives, AJ, and everyone impacted by today’s unfortunate accident,” Paul wrote.

He added: “RIP Sina Ghami and Kevin ‘Latif/Latz’ Ayodele. My thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends, and AJ.”
