Iwobi set to release debut music album, expanding profile beyond football

Alex Iwobi is expanding his profile beyond football, with the Fulham midfielder announcing plans to release his debut EP titled More To Life on April 9, 2026.
The Nigeria international, who records music under the alias ‘17’, is stepping into the industry with an eight-track project influenced by Afrobeats and Afrowave, reflecting his cultural roots and creative interests off the pitch.
Music venture takes centre stage
The lead single, Track 0 (Freestyle), has already offered an early indication of Iwobi’s sound, built around a relaxed delivery and themes of self-expression.
The project also features collaborations with several artists, including rising Nigerian act Fido and fellow Premier League player Amadou Onana, who appears under his music alias ‘24AM’.
Iwobi has previously spoken about music as an outlet from the pressures of elite football, and this release represents his most structured effort yet. The EP is expected to position him as one of the few active top-flight players pursuing a parallel creative career at this level.
Balancing football and creativity
Despite the off-field development, Iwobi remains a key figure for Fulham FC, where he has continued to deliver consistent performances in midfield.
Since breaking through at Arsenal, the 29-year-old has built a solid Premier League career, later featuring for Everton before moving to Fulham.
He has surpassed 300 appearances in the competition, underlining his longevity and importance among Nigerian players in England’s top flight.
At international level, Iwobi remains a regular for the Super Eagles, contributing both creatively and tactically since making his debut in 2015.
While his music project signals a new direction, Iwobi has consistently maintained that it complements rather than distracts from his football responsibilities.
