Iwobi hails his strike as ‘unique’ in derby win vs Tottenham

Alex Iwobi described his long-range goal in Fulham’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur as “unique,” saying the technique is one few players can replicate.
The midfielder scored Fulham’s second goal in the 34th minute, connecting with a first-time effort from 25 yards after a quick exchange with Harry Wilson.
The shot struck the inside of the post before crossing the line, doubling Fulham’s advantage after Wilson’s early opener.
‘I found the far corner’
Reflecting on the finish, Iwobi recalled the execution and preparation behind it.
“Unique. I don’t think anyone else opens up the hip and hits it like that. When the ball was set back, I only had one thought on my mind and I found the far corner. It’s something I do in training, so my team-mates aren’t surprised,” he said.

Tottenham reduced the deficit in the 66th minute through Richarlison, but were unable to level the score, leaving head coach Igor Tudor with a second consecutive league defeat.
Derby control
Iwobi maintained Fulham were largely in control despite the narrow margin.
“Another London derby, it’s always special when we play in front of our fans. We’re grateful to get the result today.
“The scoreline makes it look tight, but we felt we controlled the game and created so many opportunities. We didn’t take them, so it got a bit shaky towards the end, but we stayed strong.”
The win strengthens Fulham’s pursuit of European qualification, with Iwobi’s strike likely to feature prominently in discussions for the league’s monthly goal award.
