“It will depend on Szoboszlai” – Salah backs teammate to lead Liverpool Cup push, Slot supports

Arne Slot has echoed Mohamed Salah’s assessment that Dominik Szoboszlai is currently operating among football’s elite.
The Hungary international impressed again as Liverpool defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 in the FA Cup fourth round at Anfield, scoring the second goal to continue a productive campaign.
Szoboszlai has now registered 10 goals and seven assists in all competitions this season, while also filling in at right-back and right-wing amid injury concerns within the squad.
Salah’s strong endorsement
Speaking after the win, Salah notes the midfielder’s importance to Liverpool’s ambitions.
“It will depend on Szoboszlai performance because we rely on him so much this season. He’s among the best players in the world right now. I wish he can carry on like this,” Salah said.

The Egyptian forward’s remarks reflect Szoboszlai’s growing influence during a season that has otherwise presented challenges for the club.
Slot agrees on elite status
Slot was asked whether he shared Salah’s view in his post-match press conference and offered a clear endorsement.
“I think there are a lot of very good to elite football players. But I definitely agree with Mo that Dominik is one of them,” the Liverpool head coach said.
Szoboszlai’s performances have drawn comparisons with former captain Steven Gerrard, particularly given his energetic displays in the number eight role. However, the 25-year-old has sought to distance himself from direct parallels.
“I’m not playing a Steven Gerrard season, although he was a legend for the club,” Szoboszlai said, according to TNT Sports.
