“Is RCCG benefiting?” Lady fumes over church plan to teach members about filling taxes, sparks reactions

A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after expressing frustration over a recent announcement made at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

According to her, the church announced that a guest would be invited to teach members about taxes, how they affect individuals, and how to properly file them.

In her words, she said:

“On Sunday, our pastor said that next week they will bring somebody to teach us about taxes, how it affects us, and how to file. I was shocked.”

She compared the situation to the past, recalling how the administration of Goodluck Jonathan faced criticism from religious leaders, especially Enoch Adeboye, over bad governance.

The lady questioned why similar reactions are not being seen now, raising concerns about possible alignment between religious institutions and the current government.

“During Jonathan’s regime, Enoch Adeboye protested fuel price. Now, they want to teach us how to pay taxes. Is RCCG benefiting from the government? They should tell us. I am angry at this point,” she added.

Many reactions have followed her outburst.

One user wrote, “This one deep o, but then it may just be awareness.” Another commented, “Church and politics no difference?”

Her statement has continued to generate mixed reactions, as Nigerians debate the role of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in addressing economic issues affecting members.
