According to the lady, her partner appeared surprised by the request and asked why she felt she needed his permission.

She said he reminded her that she was an adult and that he was her partner, not her father.

The lady recalled him saying, “baby girl, you’re an adult oo. I’m your man, not your father and you don’t need permission when going out. Just tell me where you’re going and if you need me to cover the bill”

She said the response moved her to tears because it was very different from what she had experienced with her abusive ex.

She said that moment made her realise she was “in safe hands” and helped heal a part of her from the trauma of her previous relationship.
