“I’m sorry you have no government to run to…” – Nigerian lady abroad apologises to Nigerians

A Nigerian lady based abroad, identified as Adadioranmma has sparked widespread reactions online after addressing Africans, particularly Nigerians, over what she described as poor governance and lack of basic amenities.
In a viral video circulating on social media, she expressed sadness over the state of leadership across many African countries, apologizing to citizens for what she called systemic failure.
Apology Over Governance and Leadership
In her message, Adadioranmma said she felt compelled to apologize to Africans who, according to her, have never truly experienced good governance or effective leadership.
She lamented that many citizens are forced to provide their own basic needs, including security, electricity, water, and other essentials that should ordinarily be guaranteed by the state.
She also criticized the condition of infrastructure, pointing out poor road networks and limited public services.
Education and Healthcare as “Luxury”
The lady further decried the state of education and healthcare, describing both as luxuries accessible mainly to the wealthy.
According to her, many families struggle to afford quality schooling for their children, while access to good healthcare remains out of reach for a large percentage of the population.
She highlighted the financial burden citizens face in providing food, housing, and clothing without government support.
In her words: “To my brothers and sisters in Africa, especially those from Nigeria, I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. I need to apologize to you.
I’m sorry that you do not know what it means to have a good government. I’m sorry that you have never experienced leadership, good leadership, and what it means to be protected. I’m sorry that you have to be the one to provide your own security, sometimes your own electricity, your own water, your own gas.
I’m sorry that you do not have access to good roads like this. I’m sorry that education is a luxury for you. You have to work hard to send your children to school. You do not know what it means to enjoy good education for free.
I’m so sorry that health care is a luxury made for only the rich. You are not able to access good and quality health care, even when you need it the most.
I’m sorry that you have to spend so much on food, housing, and clothing without any support from the government. I’m really sorry. I’m so, so sorry that when there’s an emergency, you have no one to run to. You have no government to run to or to call. Nobody comes to your aid. You have to figure everything out for yourself just because you live in Africa.
I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry for the struggles, the pains, the burden that little children bear, hawking, selling on the streets, hunger, starvation, just because they are Black African children. I am sorry from the depth of my heart.
We have failed you. We have failed you. We have failed you.
I do not know what else to do other than to apologize and to hope that someday you can experience what it means to be valued. You can experience what it means to be a citizen of a country that actually looks out for you. I pray that one day you, not in any other land, not when you go abroad, in your own mother’s land, you’re going to experience value, protection, security from your government in your own motherland. Safety, I pray and hope that that day will come. But for the meantime, I am really sorry. I’m sorry.”
Her video has since sparked mixed reactions, with many Nigerians taking to the comments to share their thoughts.
