“I’m so miserable, i regret my marriage decisions”— Man laments

A man has gone viral after expressing frustration over his marriage, alleging that his wife has stopped maintaining household cleanliness since their wedding less than a year ago, leaving him overwhelmed with domestic duties alongside his job and caring for their three-month-old baby.

Strain behind closed doors

He said:

“I am very sad. My wife doesn’t clean the house, so I usually do it. I went away for just two days and came back to a messy house. She didn’t know I was coming home today. This marriage isn’t even up to a year but I’m already stressed out.”

Regret over past relationship choice

He added:

“I broke up with my girlfriend because I wanted a serious relationship and didn’t think of marrying her because she was not educated. I thought education was important, but now I realize I was wrong. She was an amazing person. I regret my decision every day.”

Back in 2024, a Nigerian relationship wellbeing survey by a youth-focused research group found that more than half of married respondents reported disagreements over household responsibilities as a major source of marital tension.

The man’s post has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some sympathising with his situation while others argue that expectations and communication gaps may be at the centre of the issue rather than education or personality alone according to widely shared online reports.
