“I’m just 26, I can’t pause my life…” – Lady plans to dump husband after arrest, starts life over abroad

A 26-year-old Nigerian lady has sparked widespread reactions online after opening up on her decision to walk away from her marriage following her husband’s arrest and possible extradition to the United States.

The story was shared by a Facebook user identified as Ikenna Nwatu, who is based in London.

According to him, the young woman asked that her story be posted anonymously so she could get public advice.

Lavish Aba Wedding and New Baby

The lady revealed that she and her husband got married two years ago in Aba, adding that their wedding was very lavish and well-known to people living in the city.

She said they are now blessed with a son and enjoyed a comfortable lifestyle while things lasted.

Arrest, DSS Custody and Possible Jail Term

According to her, her husband, whom she described as a “yahoo boy,” was arrested in September and has been in DSS custody in Abuja.

She said their lawyer informed them that he could be facing up to 15 years in prison in the United States.

She admitted she knew about his activities before marriage, saying: “My husband is a yahoo boy which I am aware of.”

“I Am 26 and Can’t Pause My life”

The young woman explained that while her husband gave her a good life, she never forced him into fraud and believes she should not suffer the consequences alone.

She also accused him of living a flashy lifestyle and cheating, claiming he was “answering odogwu and carrying girls” without her knowledge.

Plans to Sell Properties and Relocate

The lady disclosed plans to sell two properties her husband bought in her name and possibly relocate abroad to start afresh.

She stated that she has made up her mind, regardless of public judgment.

In her words:

“My husband is in the DSS abuja custody and waiting extradition to the USA and possible 15yrs in prison for fra*d, and I honestly don’t think I can wait. Ikenna please post for me.
We got married 2 yrs ago in Aba and now blessed with a son. A very lavish wedding that people who stays in Aba are aware of.
My husband is a yahoo boy which I am aware of. He was arrested in September and have been in the Dss custody abuja. Our lawyer said he is looking at 15 years jail term in the USA and I honestly don’t think I will wait for him.
I know he gave me good life for the past 3 years of knowing him but I never forced or made him a yahoo boy. After all he was already doing it before I met him. He made the money for himself alone, answering odogwu and carrying girls which he thought I didn’t know about.
Honestly I am a young girl of 26yrs and don’t think I will pause my life and wait for am in jail for 15years abeg.
I can sell 2 properties he got for me on my name and maybe move abroad to start a new life.
People can judge me all they want but I think I will move on.”
