“I’m fine and healthy” – Video of late Mary Habila debunking her death rumours before she died goes viral

A video of the late Mary Habila dismissing false rumours about her death just days before she died has surfaced online, sparking fresh reactions on social media.

The video was shared by Anita Baaki, Habila’s colleague and close friend, who said the deceased recorded the clip after false reports claiming she had died began circulating online.

Friend shares video after Habila’s death

Mary Habila, 26, died on June 27, 2026. Her body was later found inside a room in one of the buildings within the country home of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death are ongoing.

Rumours reportedly surfaced days earlier

According to Anita Baaki, a physiotherapist from Benue State, rumours claiming that Habila had died first began circulating online on June 24, 2026.

She said Mary responded the following day by recording a video to reassure family, friends and well-wishers that she was alive.

Anita later shared the clip on Facebook on July 20.

“I’m fine and healthy”

In the video, Mary addressed the rumours, saying she had continued receiving calls and messages from people asking if reports of her death were true.

She said:

“…So yeah, please, I still have calls coming in and messages coming in asking if that was true or something. I’m fine, I’m healthy. I really don’t know what was happening, and I don’t know what happened actually. But you can see I’m fine…”
