“I’m ashamed” – Man laments after discovering he’s working for a friend he once helped, seeks advice
A Nigerian man has cried out online after finding himself in an unexpected and emotional situation at a construction site.
According to him, he took up labour work at a building site to stabilise his life, only to discover that the property belongs to his friend.
In his words, he said:
“I’m ashamed of myself, I’m so ashamed. I went to a building site to work so I can manage to package my life. On getting there, I realised my friend owns the site. This is a big disgrace. I don’t even know what to do”.
The situation is even more painful for him because he once supported the same friend when they both had nothing.
Now faced with the reality of working under him as a labourer the man says he feels conflicted and embarrassed about continuing the job.
“Someone that had nothing when we started, I was even the one assisting him. Now he has a house, and I want to work for him as a labourer. Please, what should I do? Should I continue or look for somewhere else?” he added.
Many reactions have followed online. One user wrote, “There is dignity in labour, no shame at all.” Another added, “Life no be competition, everybody get their time.”
His story has sparked conversations, with many advising him to prioritise growth over pride and reminding him that everyone’s journey is different.
