“If you leave me for just 6 months, I’ll cheat” – Lady sparks debate over long-distance marriages

A Nigerian lady has stirred reactions online after sharing her strong opinion about long-distance marriages.

In a video making rounds on X (formerly Twitter), the lady openly admitted that she cannot remain faithful in a relationship where her partner travels abroad and leaves her alone in Nigeria for an extended period.

According to her, such arrangements are unrealistic for her, as she believes the distance and time apart make it difficult to maintain commitment.

In her words, she said:

“Why will a man leave his wife in Nigeria for 4 years? Even 6 months sef, I go move on. If you leave me as a man in Nigeria, just forget it.”

She further explained that this belief is the reason she avoids getting involved with men who live abroad, unless there is a clear plan for both partners to relocate together after marriage.

“That’s why I’ve been declining abroad men. Unless we are going together, I can’t do it. Someone said her husband has been outside for 8 years, and they’ve only seen four times. I can never do that. God forbid,” she added.

Her statement quickly drew mixed reactions from social media users, with many sharing their thoughts on the realities of long-distance relationships.

One user wrote, “Long distance no be for everybody. At least she’s honest.” Another added, “I agree… temptation too much these days.”

While some agreed with her stance, others argued that successful long-distance marriages require discipline, trust, and clear communication.
