“If you ever…” Lady shares how a man she met online scammed her of her ₦40m life savings

A Nigerian lady has sparked massive reactions online after sharing a painful story of how she allegedly lost her entire life savings to a man she met on Tinder.

According to her, the man introduced himself as a single father and claimed to be into building and construction.

On their first date, she said she borrowed him ₦500,000, after he explained he needed funds to kick-start a project.

Things allegedly escalated quickly.

She said she bought him a Samsung phone so he could look presentable as a businessman, revamped her Instagram page with over 5,000 followers for him, and even sold her iPhone 15 Pro Max to repay a loan she took on his behalf.

According to her, when she asked for photos of his past and current construction jobs, he allegedly sent images downloaded from Google.

Despite all she claimed to have done, she said the man never bought her even a lip gloss, but she ignored it because he always claimed he was financially tied down due to ongoing projects.

The woman further alleged that within six months, she gave the man everything she had, about ₦40 million, leaving her broke, homeless, and in survival mode.

She identified the man as a 46-year-old from Ondo State, named Bankole Babalola, and claimed that he allegedly worked with his wife, who pretended to be his younger sister, in what she described as a coordinated scamming scheme.

Many reactions have followed. One commentator wrote, “This is heartbreaking. Love really blinds people,” while another said, “Tinder stories keep getting worse.”

The woman ended her story with a painful reflection, repeatedly saying: ‘If you ever feel stupid, just know that someone trusted the wrong person and lost everything.’
